Saturday morning, we got up bright and early to do some rush housecleaning before heading down to the Fremont Parade and Street Fair. The Fremont Solstice Parade traditionally starts at noon, with "unauthorized naked bike riders". I think it's Fremont's answer to the Dykes on Bikes who start the Pride Parade/Rally/March every year. There was some very creative use of body paint, and some people who just bared it all without adornment. Personally, especially for men, I think it takes some guts to ride a bicycle naked. The possibility for injury...*shudder* I was particularly amused with painted penises, though. They just made me giggle.
The parade was fun, and then we hit the Jones Art Glass annual seconds sale. John bought me a gorgeous garden bowl..blown glass with copper and blue and red...so pretty. The fair was an absolute zoo, so we decided to hit it later, and headed back up the hill to home.
Lounged around the house some, watched a couple more episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (we're workin through the Season Two DVDs) then most of the upstairs residents of House Virgule came by for BBQ. Mmmm. BBQ. We got maui chicken (a marinated chicken breast) and fresh bratwursts from the butcher across the street. Yum.
Went to bed early and slept in late on Sunday.
Sunday, I'm not even sure we left the house. We puttered, we cleaned off the bookshelves that I'm going to paint tonight, we watched Harry Potter (and got annoyed at the Special Feature disc interface--where *are* the deleted scenes?) and generally had a lazy day. Did laundry, went to bed at a reasonable hour.
Life is good.
This morning, I got up early and communed with the yard. The first day lily opened up this morning, the penstemons are about to pop, the fuschias are covered with blooms, I'm really enjoying the way the yard looks. I took some pictures, will post them tonight...
And then off to work, where I've successfully avoided doing much productive for two hours now....so I probably should go earn my keep.
