He usually has very very good litterbox habits, even when I'm not as good as I should be about cleaning it.
This seems to be a total "Mom, I don't feel so good" action.
More disturbing was the pinkness of the little bit of kitty pee. I called the vet (of course, it's after 5), the on-call doctor called me back, talked me down, told me what to watch for (that would signal a blockage, rather than an infection or irritation), gave me the number of the nearest Emergency Clinic and told me, all things going well, to call the normal vet in the AM.
He's definately not lethargic (he rarely is!), there doesn't seem to be any hard swelling in his abdomen, he's eating, drinking, and playing with his sister, so I think we're okay for the evening.
Then, the joys of being a one car family, with very different home (south Seattle), work (Downtown), work (Totem Lake), and vet (Queen Anne) locations kicked in. After talking about dropping John off at 7, so I could get to my 8 am meeting, then go home, get the cat, go to the vet, etc. etc., it seemed like the easiest thing to do was to rent a car downtown. $20 for the day. Easy decision.
So, to bed tonight, to my 8 am meeting in the morning, call the vet at 9, grab the car, and take Bat Bat to see the Dr. He's totally overdue for his shots anyway, so off we go.
Wish us well.
