Whoops, complained too soon.

There's now approximately 6 or more inches of fluffy white snow outside my front door, with more still coming down.

John was smart and headed home early. I left the office downtown at 5, it was spitting a flake or two up on 5th Avenue, but by the time I got down to 3rd to catch a bus, nothing...that is, until we got to about Safeco Field, where the bus driver announced that we were on a snow reroute, and that the bus wouldn't go any closer than a mile and a half or so to home. It took about 2.5 hours to get from downtown to Rainier Beach. I'd called John partway there to see if he could meet me in Rainier Beach. He did, and we (including a neighbor I met on the bus) started carefully driving home. The hill at 57th and Water Street quickly put an end to the thought of driving home. We carefully parked the car and started the trek home.

It's so pretty out there, and since we were both dressed for the weather, not at all cold. It's about a mile or so, mostly uphill, so it helps absolve not going to the gym tonight (no way that could happen---car about a mile away in the opposite direction and many big slick hills between us and the gym).

It looked like it stopped for a while, but just started up again. I'm thinking commuting to work in the morning may not be an option. Hopefully, I can talk my boss (who will probably walk to work) into emailing some things to me so I can work remotely, at least for part of the day. We'll see.

But for now, I'm going to go crawl into a warm bed, with my wonderful husband who came to rescue me, even though he knew that the odds were that he wouldn't be able to drive back up the hill. Plus he had hot beverages waiting for me when I finally got to our meeting place. gymgeek, you rock.

Now, we just wait to see if it's enough weight on the already dry-rotted, then damaged by the wind porch cover to bring it all down. That way we don't have to tear it down, just pick it up!
