House Progress!

The ugly blue high-low textured carpet, that at one point, some 30 years ago, was a good quality carpet, has left the building. :)

(it's actually sitting on the front walk right now, waiting to be carried to the garage until it goes to the dump. Wait, I hear the guys moving it now. YAY!).

The hardwood floor underneath the carpet is in great shape, oak parquet in need of some wax, but that's all. Those little strips of nails to hold carpet are a pain to remove.

The TV and all the media equipment fit neatly into the closet, and can be closed up when we're not using them. It's a true built-in entertainment center.

I am a happy girl.

I see more carpet ripping out in my near future.

I have this neat tool that is perfect for pulling out nails - you don't need to use any strength because the end is rounded. Basically just grab the nail, roll the tool & it pops out.
Unfortunately I don't know the name of it - I just call it my "Nail-puller-outer tool" :P
But I did get it at Home Depot and it has blue handled grips...

I'll have to look for that. Some of the strips are so old and dry they splinter up and leave the nail in the floor.

Most of the nails, though, were through that strip of lathe that has all the pointy tack pointing back up at you, so they need to be pried up. I found the perfect combination of flat head screw driver, small crowbar and hammer and made pretty good time. :)
