Goodness and Fun.

John's younger brother, Matt, got into town yesterday from New York City. We'd learned from a friend that Carrie Akre known from Hammerbox and Goodness, and now a solo artist, would be doing a set at The Triple Door downtown. Tickets were cheap, and it was a lot of fun. Matt was a Goodnes fan, and while I'd heard of them, I'd never really listened. I might have to!

The other band, Reed, was billed as "Lush, evocative Rock", but really just wanted to be the Beatles, with bursts of Carlos Santana. But electric basses, and cellos! It was fun.

The Triple Door reminds me of a 20's supper club. Little private booths, all with a view of the stage, appetizers from the Wild Ginger upstairs. It's built in an old theatre that I didn't even know was in that space. I'd always thought it was just warehouse space behind the old GO Guy (which turned into a Rite-Aid, and then finally, Wild Ginger).

Definately a place to check out again. There's also another bar, with a huge aquarium, that rarely has a cover. They were playing funky old-school music in there last night. Kind posh and mod, but I can pull that off. ;)

The triple Door is a *great* venue! I loved it for Brothers of the Baladi, and they have a really eclectic programming range. Watch their website if you're loking for entertainment. They update the show listings regularly.

Maybe sometime they'll have the right jazz performance for a 20's dress-up night... You'd be a most adorable flapper.
