Had a good, fun and productive weekend.
madarab and oneirus made use of the guest room. Friday night, Ahmad prepared a wonderful eggplant dish, which was totally yummy, and much Uno was played.
Saturday, we did some painting in the office, and, since Fandango said that "Constantine" was sold out, went out to run a bunch of errands (home depot, of course!) and decided to stop and have dinner out. Just as we were finishing dinner, G calls and tells us that Fandango had been hosed, and tickets were available. So, up to Bellevue we went, and enjoyed the movie. I think if you were expecting a faithful intrepretation of the comic, you wouldn't like it, but I wasn't, and I did. And besides, Tilda Swinton as Angel Gabriel? How could that be bad.
Up Sunday to put the final coat of paint on the office ceiling. It's sweatshirt gray and lovely. Then I went out and moved things around the yard, finally attacking that pile of outdoor stuff that just kind of got dumped when we moved. It felt good to get things where they belong, and to start prepping the yard for some massive overhauling. Then off to a party at John's younger brother, who's heading out today to spend 3-4 months traveling around Europe. There's a big part of me that's jealous about the ability to just pick up and do that, but another part of me knowing that right now, totally not my thing.
Great party, though. Even being the designated driver.
Monday, we put what we had hoped would be the 4th and final coat of paint in the office. Unfortunately, it looks like we're going to need another one. If anyone ever tells you that Venetian Red will cover in 2 coats, they're lying to you. But it's a gorgeous color, and will be so pretty when it's done. Another few hours of painting, and I think we're there.
After painting, headed down to John's folks for dinner and a last visit with Peter. Got an early birthday present--a gorgeous porcelain vase with dragonflies on it. Nancy (John's mom) knows my tastes pretty well. It's perfect!
And today, back at work, and just looking forward to the next weekend: Gardening class, hockey and then a semi-formal Oscar's bash for my birthday. Life is good.
