This morning, I had to be at a workshop at 7:30, so I hopped on the bus (just ahead of a rain shower) a block from home, and hopped off the bus (just after a rain shower) a block from the office where the workshop was held.
After the workshop, I wandered back to my office via the Pike Place Market, picking up some luscious strawberries, a honey tangerine, a wonderful fennel bulb and a bouquet of sweet peas. The guy at the produce stand asked if I was making asparagus pickles again this year--and that he'd make me a deal on the grass (currently $1.99/lb, so I'll probably find it cheaper somewhere else), which was nice. (Speaking of which, unmisha, any ideas on when we want to do that?)
The sweet peas make my office smell wonderful, and add a bright touch of color in a gray, dreary day. I know my garden appreciates the rain, but it's awfully gray out there.
Maybe I'll have to buy some sweet pea starts (since I never got mine into the ground this spring). If nothing else, just for bouquets for the house.
