Homemade salsa!

Last night, I took about 5 pounds of tomatoes, combined with onions, jalepeno peppers, anaheim peppers, garlic and spices and canned 7 1/2 pints of salsa. There's no sound quite as satisfying as the "plop" of jar lids as they seal...

The whole house smelled like tomato-y goodness. And, if I say so myself, it's pretty tasty, too.

Next Sunday, we're joyriding with John's folks over to the Yakima valley in search of cheap produce. Tomatoes, peppers and peaches/nectarines are on my list. It should be lots of fun!

Went to bed at a reasonable hour, to be awakened by the Fighting Neighbors (tm) at 12:30 a.m. I can't help but hope that this relationship finishes dissolving quickly, if only for my own beauty rest. John got up and slammed the window shut, which apparently caught their attention, because their bedroom light went out and we couldn't hear any more shrieking. Had a hard time getting back to sleep, though. Luckily, most of the office is on a post-labor day vacation recovery day, so it's going to be really quiet.
