Happy Friday the Thirteenth!

Hooray for the Seattle Times.

Today, their editorial is against a constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage

"The Constitution should not be used to discriminate — or appear to discriminate — against one group of Americans. The nation has prospered for more than 200 years without the federal government setting marriage policy. That should continue....

After much reflection and thought, this page supports gay marriage because no legal justification exists to deny homosexuals rights and liberties granted to everyone else. It is a matter of fairness and equality. "

Yay for the Seattle Times indeed!
That whole Constitutional amendment proposal sends cold chills up my spine.

I could get behind Kerry's proposal that gay unions be called "civil" unions. Anything that isn't done by a religion should be a "civil union" anyway. Marriage is a religious thing. Plenty of folks get married by judges and justices of the peace, and that's just fine. If your church allows gays to wed, yay for them too. If not, you don't need religion to give you the rights you should have as a human being.

*shudder* Bush gives me the wiggins.
