email from my friend Chris. Who doesn't mince words:
House Republicans, ever focused on the most pressing issues facing Americans, have chosen to spend time removing Franklin Delano Roosevelt's image from the dime. They would like to replace FDR (in case you forgot, the man dragged the U.S. out of the depths of the Depression, defeated the forced of Facism and Imperialism, and lifted retired Americans out of poverty by creating Social
Security) with Ronald W. Reagan (who cut taxes for really wealthy and nearly bankrupted our country ... hmm, sounds familiar)
USA Today is running a poll running to determine whether Americans want to keep FDR (who saved the world from Hitler and Tojo) or replace him with the star of "Bedtime for Bonzo." As the poll is in USA Today, we're competing with people who read on a fifth grade level, so please take the time to vote.
Of course, public opinion rarely moves House Republicans (witness impeachment), but winning may provide a symbolic victory for those of us completely out of power.
As for whining about, "well, he has Alzheimer's," hey, my grandmother has the disease - you don't see me wanting to put her on the quarter.
