But since it signals an end of family trauma, I should be very thankful. And I only have to work 3 weeks, then I have a full week off, which will be nice.
Something fun happened today. John and I were horsing around in the kitchen, being domestic, when he wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up!. I don't know who was more surprised, me, that he could pick me up, or him that he picked me up. It's a combination of my losing weight and his getting stronger (both due to healthy living and actually going to the gym!). In any case, it made me hoppy.
We re-worked the metal baker's rack in the kitchen, adding taller poles in the back, moving a couple shelves, and adding a vertical grid. As a result, all of the calphlon, except for the stock pot, is now hanging on the rack, leaving the shelf as a great place for big pots and stockpots. Sometimes, it's just the little things. This one small corner of our house is clean and organized exactly like we want it.
What other exciting things did we do today? We went to the bank (depositing money, yay!), visited John's brother Peter, to Home Depot (furnace filter, indoor/outdoor thermometer and bark mulch), Petsmart (activated charcoal, new fake plants for the fishies) and Safeway (because I don't think we've been grocery shopping since Dad got sick). Came home, cleaned out the fridge, made dinner (craving turkey, since we had prime rib for Thanksgiving) including homemade dressing, watched M*A*S*H (Season 5 comes out December 9!), assembled the rack, did laundry and cleaned the kitchen. Okay, not exciting, but actually fairly productive.
Now it's time to tumble into bed so we can make it to the gym in the morning.
Sleep tight, y'all.
