I made some Raspberry Ginger Honey Mead at my home a few years ago. It was something else. Light pink, crystal clear and delicately effervescent. A tang to it from the raspberries and ginger, with just enough sweetness to balance it. Not a heavy, syrupy drink at all. High alcohol content gave it some heat in the mouth, but it was still refreshing and highly drinkable. The only problem was the horrific hangovers it would produce if I had more than two bottles in one sitting.

Homemade Mead
I've been thinking (not for the first time) that we should try making mead.

Your brew sounds wonderful.

My brain goes odd places
"Everybody ought to have some mead
Everybody ought to have some honey wine
Everybody ought to have some funny wine
to carry around the house!..."

Do you like sweet mead or dry mead?

We have huge amounts of mead in our garage. Mike makes about 10 gallons a year to last us through the SCA events. The batch we're drinking this summer is particularly good. :) Maybe I can convince Mike to bottle some and send it to you by way of Gene...

Mead Delivery, via Gene
Because, gods know, if the two of us ever were actually in the same place at the same time.....

gymgeek says that his only experience is with bad mead. I think I'm more of a sweet mead drinker myself, but I'm willing to experience new things. :)

BTW, check either your attbi mail or your LJ mail. I sent you something you haven't seen.....
