Meg & John-Rafting
Originally uploaded by Sisterfish.
While we did not see White Salmon, we did see lots of white water--and went over a waterfall with a 14 ft vertical drop. It was a blast!

We followed all the instructions, and launched perfectly into the falls. Apparently, according to those watching from above, the boat jackknifed, tossing the guide into a forward somersault. He launched his head off of our heads and my shoulder and landed in the river ahead of us. We did stay in the boat, and didn't even lose a paddle. I was really glad we had helmets on though, head to head contact---wow...you really do almost see stars. Today, I have a nice bruise on my shoulder where he hit. But we were all okay, and had a great time finishing the river. John was brave, and jumped off the 30 ft high bridge into the river below. I stayed safely below on that one.

It was fun, and we're totally up for doing it again next year--and probably more than once.

Take me, take me! I went rafting one time two summers ago, and last year I was pregnant and couldn't, and this year Runtly is just too little for me to leave comfortably with someone while I go do something stupid. :)

We thought of you as we got off I-5 at 205.....so if we went down that way next year, picking you up is a snap!

That sounds so cool.

On a completely shallow note, you look like you've lost some weight in that picture (which, well, I haven't seen you in some time so you probably have). Way to go.

Thanks! We've been working out and trying to eat right. :)

It's slow, but it beats the alternative.

I don't know that I would have tried the waterfall a couple years ago in the shape I was in!
