Paint your head.

Painting, painting, painting.

We were naively optimistic in estimating how long painting the entire interior of the house would take. But we're having fun.

The bedroom is done. It needs some touch up, but that'll need to wait for a sunny day. In the evening dusk, you can't tell the spots we missed. :)

The office has had a coat of primer and a coat of paint. My painting-learned friends tell me that with a dark red we can expect to put 3-5 coats of paint up there before it's the dark, deep, smooth shade we want. Whoops. Luckily, it's not a huge room.

The kitchen should be finished (except for doors and drawers and crown moulding) tonight.

Over the holiday vacation (Active Voice is closed from Dec 24 to Jan 3), I'm hoping to get most of the living room and dining room finished. John has to work, so it'll just be me and the cats. We can do it. :)

But it's home. And feeling more like home every day.

A Holiday Vacation?!?! I'm jealous...
My trip isn't a vacation...

Oh, and does this painting experience mean you'll be ready to paint my house when you come see it? ;)

Oh, and it sounds like Grandma's going to a nursing home VERY soon.

Well, we're forced to take vacation, but at least I won't be at work.
John doesn't have the PTO (house stuff and that nasty sinus infection kinda ate up his extra) to take the whole week off, I'm just squeaking it out--thank goodness for high vacation accruals.

Sure. We're probably going to be good at it, eventually.

Hopefully, the transition for her won't be as hard from assisted living to nursing care as it was to move out of her own home. Are they just not managing her meds?

Grandma...
She's been in the hospital several times since she moved into the facility. There was apparently a care-conference last night, and Mom said that "they" were talking about a home, and that the facility didn't think that they could meet her needs. The West Nile has caused liver problems, and the liver meds spike her blood sugar, and it is just a vicious cycle...

I'd help you over the break, but I'll be in Vancouver for most of it... but I can ring you after I get home and check on your progress. You might still needs some help after I get back! 8)

Call Obi-Wan if you want some help? He really is very kind about such things, and I bet he'd be glad for things to do, if the Dev world doesn't have him working over the holiday.

I'm hoping to get lots done over break. We'll see. :)

Re: Woo!
I'll ring you when I get back from Vancouver.

My wacky pants could stand a few more paint splotches to go with the plaid! 8)

Congrats! I'm so happy for you guys. A house you really want, that is a huge gift. I mean, versus, you know, the house we had we didn't really want that was full of mold. :)

Just let us know when the guest room is ready. Hehehe.

Come on up....

I mean, what's a little painting between friends. There's a guest room, it's a god-awful shade of teal, and there's paint in there to make it a soothing shade of sagey green.

Oh, the bed. Okay, it's not there yet. :) But I think this room will be big enough for Elizabeth's portable crib.

Yeah I was just about to say, "Well, it probably won't be until March or so cause NO WAY am I hauling this big belly three hours away just weeks from my due date". :)

But big enough for her portable crib, huh? Hmm......

We'll need to get one of those little roll-out mattresses for Miles. I bet he'd love that.

Our guest bed is going to be my old brass bed, which is a double.
We had our queen sized mattress and box springs (you know, the ones that wouldn't fit upstairs!) in there, with plenty of room, so I think you'll be able to fit your whole family! :)
