Back to the Grind.

Miss me?

Seems like it's been much longer than a week....

Vegas was fun. There was some drama, which I won't go into here, mostly because I have no control over it, but despite that, we had a good time. We stayed within our gambling budget, played hard all weekend and had a great time.

If you get the chance to see

Vegas was fun. There was some drama, which I won't go into here, mostly because I have no control over it, but despite that, we had a good time. We stayed within our gambling budget, played hard all weekend and had a great time.

If you get the chance to see <a href="http://www.bellagiolasvegas.com/pages/ent_main.asp"<b>"O"</b></a>, the cirque du soleil show at the Bellagio, do so. It was amazing. We were sitting in the upper balcony, and had a great perspective on the underwater action. I really want to go see it again, from the main floor, and without the loud french couple next to us.

The office moved while I was on vacation, but I found them on Thursday. Spent the day unpacking my 20 some-odd boxes. It's beginning to feel like home, though. Everyone is a lot closer than we were in the old space. I'm directly halfway between our CEO and our Director of Planning and Budgets, on a not very long hallway. When I'm lucky(?), I can hear Romanian in one ear and Japanese in the other.

The new office is much closer to the core of downtown, which is good and bad. It makes it a lot easier to go shopping at lunchtime, which is good, but bad for the budget. There's also a lot more places to go out to lunch, which is good, but bad for the commitment to bring lunches from home.

Had a very relaxing weekend. Ran errands on Saturday, helped John get ready for his gaming group to invade our house (a friendly invasion!) Saturday night. I hung out (hid out?) in the office with the cats and did my homework. Homework! It's the first time in years and years that I've had homework! But I got most of it finished.

Sunday, we went to visit John's mom, who's recovering from hip replacement surgery. She threatened to chase us out when we presented her with a bionic woman coloring book and crayons. We told her we could outrun her... John's dad made us yummy rouladen for dinner.

Today, back to the salt mines, on the 10 hour days.

And back to the gym tonight. It's been nearly a month since I've been there. Not a good thing.

O
It's incredible. The price seems a little steep, but after seeing it, it was well worth it. The stage is amazing. A million + gallon tank with stages that raise and lower in it.

Where are you staying? We love Vegas. :)

Re: O
we're staying at the Venetian... I've seen cirque de soleil a number of times and each show is amazing.

We both really like Las Vegas, there so much to do there including excellent hiking in the Red Rocks area and the surrounding mountains.

Re: O
The Venetian is so gorgeous!
We got sucked into the Entertainment Art gallery there....and well, they'll be shipped to us in a couple weeks. :)

And to think, at first John didn't want to go. I had to bribe him with a Hard Hat tour of Hoover Dam.

Re: O
the hard hat tour is pretty neat. i would love to take our kayak some time, but brian isn't so interested in staying long enough to make it worth his while...

there used to be nice shop in the Paris casino devoted to french lithographs... we bought a really pretty Mucha litho of the zodiac.
